Eightfold Holy Path

(ariya ațțhańgiko maggo, ārya-aşțāńgo-mārgāh) consists of:

  1. right view (sammā-dițțhi, samyak-dŗşți)
  2. right thinking (sammā-sańkappa, samyak-sańkalpa)
  3. right speech (sammā-vācā, samyak-vacana)
  4. right action (sammā-kammanta, samyak-karmānta )
  5. right livelihood (sammā-ājīva, samyak-ājīva)
  6. right striving (sammā-ppadhāna, samyak-pradhāna)
  7. right mindfulness (sammā-sati, samyak-smŗți)
  8. right concentration (sammā-samādhi, samyak-samādhi)
  9. right prognosis (sammā-paññā, samyak-prajňā: insight, wisdom).
